Community Star Award

By: Boone County Health Center

We have great news! The State Offices of Rural Health (SORH) has recognized us as a 2017 National Rural Health Day “Community Star.”

“Rural health care is vital, because it gives patients access to the care they need close to home,” our Chief Executive Officer Tanya Sharp said. “Our dedicated staff works hard each day to give rural patients the highest quality care. It’s an honor to be recognized by the State Office of Rural Health for these efforts.”

Community Stars are recognized nationally for their communication, education, collaboration and innovation in providing health care to the roughly one in five Americans who live in rural US.

They are named as part of National Rural Health Day, which is the third Thursday of November each year. This day is set aside by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) to recognize those who serve the vital health needs of over 60 million people who live in rural towns across the US.

As a Community Star, BCHC will appear in the 2017 edition of the book of National Rural Health Day Community Stars. This book can be seen on the official hub for National Rural Health Day and the Power of Rural movement here: Power of Rural
