child’s safety!

Here at Boone County Health Center, we are committed to the safety of your children. Nicole Levander, Certified Car Seat Technician, can give hands-on help by physically showing you the proper way to install your child’s car seat and answering any questions. As an added service, all parents who deliver at BCHC receive free training and a car seat inspection to ensure their baby is restrained properly before leaving the hospital.

In the United States, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 14 years old (based on 2013 figures, from National Center for Health Statistics).

During 2012 on Nebraska roadways:
Five children ages 0-4 were killed and 317 children were injured.

The good news is, Child safety seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71 percent for infants and by 54 percent for toddlers in passenger cars. (Source: NHTSA 2012)
