Respiratory Therapy

Boone County Health Center’s Respiratory Therapy department helps patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary problems. Patients range from infants to elderly adults.

During a hospitalization, patients are treated for conditions such as

  • Asthma
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Pneumonia
  • Heart failure
  • COPD
  • Acute mechanical ventilation

 

The Respiratory Therapy department provides treatments that include

  • Sleep Diagnostics
  • Sleep studies to check for sleep apnea
  • Aerosol Therapy
  • Oxygen Therapy
  • Incentive Spirometry
  • Chest Physiotherapy
  • Mechanical Ventilation
  • BIPAP Therapy
  • Pulmonary Function Diagnostics
  • EEGs

Courtney Schindler, RRT

Courtney is a Respiratory Therapist who joined the BCHC RT team back in 2018. She earned a degree in Respiratory Care at Southeast Community College in Lincoln. . “I am very passionate about my job and love the variety it offers. There is something new every day, and I enjoy getting to know the patients and staff at Boone County Health Center,” said Courtney. She grew up in Petersburg and now lives in Elgin with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she enjoys running, baking and spending time with friends and family. Courtney’s twin sister is a nurse at Boone County Health Center as well.

Ryan Luettel, CRT

Ryan is a Respiratory Therapist who joined BCHC back in 2022. He earned a degree in Respiratory Care at Southeast Community College in Lincoln.  Prior to his career at BCHC, Ryan worked at Faith Regional Health Services for 12 years as a Respiratory Therapist. “I enjoy taking care of patients ranging from outpatient to critical and being part of the BCHC team.”  He lives on a farm in Petersburg with his wife and three children.  In his spare time he farms with his dad and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Patients can have a sleep study done at Boone County Health Center with a referral from their primary care provider.
