BCHC Cardiac Rehab Program Earns National Certification
By: Aprill Murphy
Albion, NE (Sept 2, 2026) – Boone County Health Center (BCHC) has earned national certification for its cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation program from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), recognizing the program’s commitment to high-quality patient care and nationally recognized standards.
Cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs help patients recover and improve their quality of life following heart or lung conditions. Patients may include those recovering from a heart attack or heart surgery, as well as individuals managing chronic lung conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Programs combine monitored exercise, education, counseling and support to help patients build strength, manage their condition and live healthier lives.
For Angela Swantek, BCHC Cardiac Rehab Director, the certification is especially meaningful because it recognizes a program and people she is incredibly proud of.
“We truly have the best team and the best patients,” said Swantek. “Our staff cares deeply about every person who walks through our doors. We get to know our patients, celebrate their progress and cheer them on every step of the way. This certification is something our entire team can be proud of, but seeing our patients get stronger, feel better and get back to doing the things they love is the greatest reward.”
To earn certification, BCHC completed an extensive application and review process demonstrating that its program meets standards and guidelines established by AACVPR and other professional organizations. The certification process evaluates program practices as well as patient outcomes and quality of care.
AACVPR-certified programs are recognized as leaders in cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation for their commitment to evidence-based practices and continuous improvement. For BCHC patients, it is another assurance that high-quality, nationally recognized cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation is available close to home.
AACVPR Program Certification is valid for three years.
