BCHC Strengthens Community Safety in Newman Grove
By: Aprill Murphy
Albion, NE (July 15, 2026) – Boone County Health Center (BCHC) has donated an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to the Newman Grove Community Center to help enhance emergency preparedness at the facility.
Updated in 2019, the Newman Grove Community Center serves as a shared gathering place for community events, meetings, celebrations, and activities throughout the year. The renovation was made possible largely through volunteer efforts, reflecting the dedication and pride of many community members who invested countless hours into preserving and improving the building. The addition of an AED helps protect the people who gather there and supports the center’s role as a safe and welcoming space for the community.
The donation is made possible through the 340B Drug Pricing Program and is part of BCHC’s ongoing effort to increase access to life-saving equipment across its seven-county service area. BCHC gifts two AEDs each year to eligible organizations such as churches, community centers, and recreational sites to help improve emergency readiness in rural communities where immediate medical intervention can be critical.
Organizations interested in applying for a future AED donation can contact Aprill Murphy in BCHC’s Grants & Public Relations Department.
