We’re Adding Another Mental Health Counselor

By: Boone County Health Center

Boone County Health Center is pleased to announce the addition of yet another mental health counselor, Kayla Baker, LIMHP, LPC, LADC who will see patients Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesdays until 6 p.m.

“I am very passionate about helping those struggling with addiction, anxiety, and depression and hope to bring more support for these individuals in the rural area. I also want to help people understand everyone has mental health and we need to care for this the same way we do our physical health. Prevention is key, advocating for yourself, and understanding it takes ongoing work to maintain a positive wellbeing especially during constantly changing times,” said Baker.

A native of Spalding, NE, Baker earned her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and her Masters of Science in Clinical Counseling at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.

Baker became a therapist because she enjoys connecting with people and using this connection to help clients feel empowered to use healthier skills to better their lives. She values honesty and practices a straight forward yet compassionate approach to therapy.

Baker and husband Cody live west of Petersburg and recently welcomed newborn son, Walter. In her spare time, Baker enjoys kayaking, sand and court volleyball, reading and snuggling her little one.
