ALBION, Nebraska (April 9, 2025) -Boone County Health Center is excited to announce that Dr. Nicole Kramer will be joining our medical practice in the fall of 2027. A native of Elgin, Dr. Kramer brings with her a deep passion for rural healthcare and a commitment to serving the communities that helped shape her journey into medicine. With a special interest in obstetrics, she will provide comprehensive care for patients of all ages, ensuring families in our region receive high-quality, compassionate healthcare close to home.
Dr. Kramer’s path to medicine began on her family farm, where she spent time working alongside her father and hearing stories about her grandfather, who lost his battle with metastatic stomach cancer at the age of 49. “Hearing my dad talk about my grandpa led me to want to pursue a career where I can help individuals and their families who are suffering,” Dr. Kramer shared. With the encouragement of her family, particularly her father, she set her sights on becoming a physician.
Her academic journey led her to Bryan College of Health Sciences, where she earned a degree in Biomedical Sciences. She then attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine, graduating in May 2024. During her fourth year, she was part of the Advanced Family Medicine Training Program, which solidified her passion for full-spectrum family medicine, including obstetrical care. She matched into UNMC’s Rural Training Track in Grand Island, where she will complete her residency in June 2027.
Dr. Kramer credits two physicians in particular for shaping her path—Dr. Joel Travis and her mother-in-law, Dr. Lynette Kramer. “Dr. Travis not only delivered me as a baby but also guided me through early medical experiences. He played a pivotal role in my decision to return to Boone County Health Center,” she said. She was also fortunate to learn from Dr. Lynette Kramer, whose expertise and mentorship have been invaluable in her development as a physician.
Family medicine offers Dr. Kramer the unique opportunity to build lasting relationships with her patients, caring for them throughout all stages of life. “I love that with family medicine, you get the opportunity to take care of the whole person,” she explained. “I have a great interest in obstetrics and women’s health, but also enjoy taking care of kids, adults, and geriatric patients. Family medicine allows me to see a bit of everything, and I find that incredibly special.”
Outside of medicine, Dr. Kramer and her husband, Kyle, enjoy spending time back home with family, cheering on the Huskers, and exploring the outdoors. Kyle is a respiratory therapist who will continue his work in Grand Island as Dr. Kramer completes her training. They look forward to moving back to the area that holds such a special place in their hearts.
Dr. Kramer’s approach to patient care is rooted in collaboration and trust. “I love to get to know my patients—not just their medical conditions, but their home environment, their mental health, their family life, and what truly makes them who they are,” she said. She is honored to serve the communities that have supported her throughout her journey and is eager to give back through her work at Boone County Health Center.
Boone County Health Center President and CEO Caleb Poore expressed his enthusiasm for Dr. Kramer’s arrival, stating, “We are thrilled to have Dr. Kramer joining our team. She is incredibly sharp, and her dedication to rural healthcare aligns perfectly with our mission. Beyond her medical expertise, she embodies the small-town bedside care that makes BCHC special. Her ability to connect with patients on a personal level will make her a valued addition to our medical team and a trusted provider for our patient population.”
Dr. Kramer’s arrival at BCHC in 2027 marks a significant addition to the medical staff, bringing expertise in full-spectrum family medicine and obstetrics to the region. As she completes her residency and prepares to return home, local residents can look forward to the care and dedication she will bring to Boone County Health Center.
